I’ve used filters to help me get closer before and they did a splendid job. You won’t lose autofocus and you can use your current lens like a macro without disrupting your shooting style. The drawback is image quality might suffer a bit due to another layer of glass on your lens.

Don’t attach the adapter to your lens. Get the proper exposure and set your camera first then use your adapter. Frame your shot properly, move your camera forward and backward while focusing too until it’s sharp. Take a deep breath and snap it right away.
