If you plan to shoot insects, though, I would recommend a macro lens with a focal length of 105mm or longer to give you a good working distance.

In fact, it gives you a more convenient solution to shooting macro images without the hefty price tag. Just make sure you always clean the converter and your lens because dust will easily enter it.
